I need tips for cleaning my room?

Hey there, so I am 14, and I have to tackle my room which is a pig stye. I told my mom I would, and i’d feel bad if I didn’t, but problem is, I get distracted. What should I do? I have a couch and bed in my room, a dresser, some like storage units in the closet, and a little like microwave cart which i use for my paints and such. any ideas?

Break i down into smart parts…

First, go in with a trash bag, and throw out anything you don’t want…like old school papers, broken crayons, toys, etc…

Then you can decide if you want to sort through things and make a box for GIVE AWAY , UNSURE, PUT AWAY

If you have clothes that are too small, put them in the give away box. Maybe you have a younger sibling who can wear them, or you can give to Good Will or sell at a yard sale to make money!

If you have things that need to be put away, but you don’t have a place for them, put in the box for now. If it has a place, like a book, put it on the shelf NOW–why handle it twice, and have to pick it up again and put it away after you have already handled it, right?

Things you are not sure about, put in the undecided box. You and your mom can go through them together later. If you start doing this, say for 15 minutes after school, and 1/2 hour after dinner, you will be done in a few days or maybe it will take a week, but your mom will be SO PROUD OF YOU!!!

It is also a good idea to figure out zones for doing things, like setting up a desk with a bookcase near for homework doing, maybe put the stereo/IPOD station near the couch…etc, so you have more room over-all.
