Empty or lock the closet?

I’m not sure what to do with the closet in my 3 year old’s room. Currently I’m using it for storage (his clothes and whatnot are in his dresser in his room) of this-n-that extra toys, blankets, clothes and such, but my little boy enjoys using his closet as a hiding place and sort of play cave. He understandably gets into everything that I have stored in there, so our current situation isn’t working.

Empty it. Maybe put some “storage” in there, but only stuff he can freely get into, like some toys or books. It sounds like such a fun thing to have – I used my closet as a little “nest” well into adolescence. When I was older I would just sit in there and read. It was cool.
